Spotify

cloudby ALYT

adds a music library.

Method: oauth. You will sign in at Spotify and allow ALYT to read your playlists, liked songs and the artists you follow. ALYT reads them; your Sonos plays them, with the Spotify account it already holds.

Yes: “Read the library again”.

What stops working when it is disconnected

Section titled “What stops working when it is disconnected”

The library is forgotten here; nothing on your Sonos changes. Spotify keeps ALYT allowed until you remove it under your Spotify account’s apps.

Connection fields are served for a program at /connectors/spotify.json.

Spotify connects ALYT to a cloud music library. It requires Sonos for playback, and the Spotify tile shows Needs SONOS connector. When you connect, ALYT signs in with Spotify and reads your playlists, liked songs, and followed artists. Sonos then plays from the Spotify account already linked inside Sonos; ALYT does not play audio itself.

Connection uses Spotify sign-in in a browser. ALYT requests read-only access for playlists, liked songs, and followed artists. You do not type a Spotify password into ALYT. The connection is scoped to the household context that starts it, and the account must be allowed for that home. If Spotify refuses the sign-in or consent, no connection is created.

The connection is cloud-based, so Spotify’s provider and network must be available for reading the library. Local ALYT features can keep working during a cloud outage, but Spotify browsing and sync depend on Spotify being reachable.

After connection, ALYT exposes the Spotify account as a library endpoint rather than a device. The library contains liked songs, playlists returned by Spotify, and followed artists. Open the library is the normal action for browsing, and Read the library again refreshes what ALYT shows.

ALYT searches Spotify’s catalogue, not only the household’s saved items. Search returns songs, playlists, albums, and artists. The connector does not expose playback controls of its own, and it does not create a physical player.

Spotify browsing is separate from Sonos playback. A selected song, album, playlist, or artist can be handed to Sonos for playback, but browsing alone does not start audio. For restricted playlists, ALYT can use a local Sonos path in the connected home to resolve tracks into a separate library queue; ALYT keeps this queue hidden, and the playback queue unchanged. That fallback needs a household session, an explicit selected property, and an enabled local Sonos player in that property. It is not available for cloud Sonos and does not bypass home permissions.

Spotify artist top tracks are not exposed. New-app recommendations and radio endpoints are also unavailable. When Spotify refuses playlist tracks, ALYT may still show playlist metadata, but it cannot claim access to songs that the provider denies.

The connector does not subscribe to provider events, and it does not expose connect or disconnect event feeds. Searches and library reads return pages of content, not live change streams.

Disconnecting removes the ALYT connection. The library is forgotten in ALYT, but nothing on Sonos changes. Spotify keeps the app allowed until the person revokes access in Spotify’s own app settings.

Check that Sonos is connected first, because Spotify depends on it for playback. Then confirm that the Spotify account still has a valid provider session and that the provider can be reached from the network. If a playlist read fails, try Read the library again after verifying the household session and the selected property.

If Spotify sign-in works in the browser but the library still does not load, check the home permissions for the person who started the connection. If playback is the problem, verify the Spotify account inside Sonos rather than the ALYT connection itself.
